He was said to be a skilled warrior and raiders, and he did have two wives – one named Lagertha and one named Thora. Ragnar also had children with both women, which matches up with what we know about him from the TV show.
However, there are also many parts of Ragnar’s story that don’t seem to fit with history. For instance, he was said to have fought and killed a giant snake, which would be impossible. Additionally, the idea of him having multiple wives was very rare during that time period. It’s more likely that this part of his story was added in later as a way to make him seem more heroic.
So, it’s difficult to say for sure whether or not Ragnar Lothbrok was a real person. However, even if he wasn’t completely real, he still represents an important part of Viking culture and history.
